When people compare the HealthyLine vs Biomat, HealthyLine has an easy sales pitch: more therapies, more gemstones and more product choices for less money.

That sounds impressive until you stop counting features and ask the question that matters most to someone shopping for an infrared mat:

Which company built the better infrared gemstone mat?

If PEMF is what you primarily want, we believe you should compare serious PEMF systems and choose the product best designed for PEMF. If red-light therapy is your priority, compare purpose-built red-light devices using the specifications that actually determine light delivery. But if you are shopping for a premium far infrared mat, infrared therapy mat, infrared heating pad or amethyst mat, then the infrared heating system should come first.

That is where the Richway Biomat separates itself.

HealthyLine's own current TAJ documentation identifies its heat source as a "Heated Wiring System." Richway's current 17-layer construction identifies a dedicated silicon and Teflon reverse-current heating layer with EMF interception.

Those are fundamentally different designs. A heating wire generates heat along the physical route of the wire and depends on that heat conducting outward through the surrounding materials. Richway incorporates the heater as its own functional layer underneath the gemstone and thermal-management system.

For a product whose purpose is to heat a gemstone field spread across nearly the entire surface beneath your body, we prefer Richway's layer-based heating architecture to HealthyLine's documented wire-heating system.

The same philosophy carries through the rest of the product. Richway uses amethyst and tourmaline in different parts of the construction instead of simply maximizing gemstone variety. Its 17 layers have defined heating, thermal, reflective, gemstone and EMF-management roles. Richway publishes specific medical-device manufacturing credentials behind the Biomat. The Bio-Mat has a device-specific FDA premarket-review history that current HealthyLine TAJ mats do not. And Richway's Lifetime Care Program remains relevant long after HealthyLine's conventional five-year defect warranty has ended.

HealthyLine has built a multi-therapy wellness mat. Richway has spent decades refining the Biomat as a specialized infrared gemstone system.

For someone actually shopping for infrared therapy, we believe that specialization matters more than feature count.

Which HealthyLine Mat Should Be Compared With the Biomat Professional?

The terminology itself can be confusing. People search for HealthyLine Biomat, HealthyLine vs Biomat, Biomat vs HealthyLine, Biomat vs InfraMat and InfraMat Pro vs Biomat, but InfraMat Pro is not one single current HealthyLine model.

HealthyLine now sells several product series with different sizes and combinations of infrared heat, gemstones, PEMF and red-light hardware.

For this comparison, the most useful current matchup is the Richway Amethyst Biomat Professional 7000MX against the HealthyLine TAJ Mat Pro Plus 74" x 28".

This is not a comparison designed to make Richway look good by placing the Professional against a tiny inexpensive HealthyLine pad. These are genuinely comparable full-body products.

The Biomat Professional measures approximately 27.56" x 72.84", weighs approximately 24.25 pounds without its controller, uses 180 watts and has a temperature range of 95°F to 158°F. It contains approximately 16.53 pounds of natural amethyst.

The HealthyLine TAJ Pro Plus measures approximately 74" x 28" x 1.2", weighs approximately 29 pounds, uses 260 watts and also reaches approximately 158°F. It combines amethyst, jade and tourmaline with FIR heat, negative ions, PEMF and red-light hardware.

As of this update, HealthyLine lists the TAJ Pro Plus at $1,499 and the regular price of the Biomat Professional is $2,150. Prices and promotions change, so current pricing should always be checked before purchasing.

HealthyLine is cheaper. The rest of this comparison explains why we would still spend more for Richway.

The Biggest Difference: How the Gemstones Are Heated

This is the most important part of the Biomat vs HealthyLine comparison because it goes directly to the job an infrared gemstone mat is supposed to perform.

HealthyLine's current TAJ construction information specifically identifies a Heated Wiring System.

Richway's published Biomat construction identifies a dedicated silicon and Teflon reverse-current heating layer with EMF interception as one of the Biomat's 17 functional layers.

Why a Heating Wire and a Heating Layer Are Different Designs

A resistance wire generates heat along the route the wire physically follows. Heat then conducts away from those wire paths through the surrounding construction, which is how the areas between the wires eventually become warm.

That does not mean a wire-heated mat cannot become warm across its surface. It means the original heat source is still a network of relatively narrow paths.

Richway takes a different architectural approach. The heating system is identified as an entire functional layer inside the same construction stack that contains the gemstones, thermal-management materials, infrared reflector and EMF-interception materials.

The distinction matters when you look at what the Professional Biomat is designed to heat. The 7000MX contains approximately 16.53 pounds of amethyst crystals across its gemstone surface.

If our goal is to heat a broad gemstone field, we would rather have the heater engineered as a dedicated layer beneath that field than make individual wire paths the primary source of heat.

This is the single biggest reason we prefer the Richway Biomat.

Same Maximum Temperature Does Not Mean the Same Heating System

Both products can reach approximately 158°F.

That does not make their heating systems equivalent.

Maximum temperature tells you how hot a system can become. It does not tell you how the heating element is physically arranged underneath the gemstone surface.

Wattage does not answer that question either. The TAJ Pro Plus uses approximately 260 watts, compared with approximately 180 watts for the Biomat Professional.

Greater electrical consumption does not by itself prove better heat distribution or a better infrared system.

For an infrared heat therapy mat, we believe the architecture of the heater relative to the gemstone field is much more meaningful than simply choosing the largest temperature or wattage number.

Similar Full-Body Coverage, but the Biomat Is Lighter and Uses Less Rated Power

The two products provide very similar full-body coverage. The TAJ Pro Plus is approximately 74" x 28", while the Professional Biomat is approximately 72.84" x 27.56".

Despite that similar footprint, the current specifications show another useful difference.

The TAJ Pro Plus weighs approximately 29 pounds. The Professional Biomat weighs approximately 24.25 pounds without its controller.

That makes the Biomat about 4.75 pounds lighter before considering the controller, which can matter for professional users or anyone who expects to move or store a full-size gemstone mat regularly.

The power ratings also differ substantially: approximately 260 watts for the TAJ Pro Plus versus 180 watts for the Professional Biomat.

Both nevertheless list the same approximate maximum temperature of 158°F.

We do not claim that those numbers alone prove greater energy efficiency, faster heating or superior thermal performance; controlled testing would be required to establish those things.

What the published specifications do establish is that Richway delivers essentially the same full-body footprint and the same listed maximum temperature with a lighter mat and a lower rated electrical draw.

That is a concrete design advantage, not another therapy added to the feature list.

Why NASA Gets Mentioned in the Biomat Heating Story

NASA has been referenced in Biomat marketing for years, often without anyone explaining what that is supposed to mean.

NASA did not invent the Richway Biomat, and NASA does not endorse the 7000MX.

The legitimate connection is the broader engineering concept of thin, flexible electrical heating.

NASA documents electrical-resistance heaters as an established form of spacecraft thermal control. Flexible heaters can place electrical resistance elements within thin electrically insulating materials so controlled heat can be applied where it is needed without a conventional bulky heater.

That matters because it establishes that thin, flexible electrical heating is real thermal-control engineering rather than a wellness-marketing invention.

It does not prove that Richway owns a NASA patent, that the 7000MX contains a NASA spacecraft heater or that NASA developed the Biomat. We have not found primary documentation supporting those broader claims, so we do not make them.

The present-day comparison does not need them anyway.

HealthyLine currently describes its TAJ heater as a Heated Wiring System. Richway describes the heater as its own functional layer inside the Biomat's construction.

That is the difference a buyer can evaluate today.

Five Therapies in One Mat: Why More Is Not Automatically Better

HealthyLine's TAJ combines several technologies in one product: far infrared heat, heated gemstones, negative ions, PEMF and 630 nm red-light hardware.

That creates an impressive feature list.

But the number of therapies tells us nothing about whether each individual modality represents the strongest implementation of that therapy.

PEMF illustrates the point. The TAJ Pro Plus provides PEMF from 1 to 30 Hz at up to approximately 2 Gauss. HealthyLine itself separates its catalog into different technology categories, including products with a stronger emphasis on PEMF.

Even inside HealthyLine's own product line, therefore, "includes PEMF" does not mean "best product for PEMF."

The same logic applies to red light. TAJ includes 60 red lights at 630 nm. A buyer whose primary goal is photobiomodulation should compare dedicated red-light equipment using the specifications that determine actual light delivery, including wavelength, irradiance, treatment area and dose.

Simply putting red lights into an infrared gemstone mat does not establish that it is a better red-light device.

That is why we do not treat TAJ's additional modalities as an automatic advantage over the Biomat.

If PEMF is your priority, compare the best PEMF-focused systems.

If red-light therapy is your priority, compare serious red-light devices.

If far infrared gemstone therapy is what you came to buy, choose the product whose architecture has been developed around that job.

Richway does not need to add every available wellness modality to make the Biomat better at being a Biomat.

We consider that specialization an advantage.

Amethyst and Tourmaline: Richway Uses Both for Different Purposes

The current Richway Biomat contains both amethyst and tourmaline.

What makes the construction more compelling to us is that Richway does not simply combine several gemstones in the same visible surface and treat a larger variety of stones as proof of a better product.

The Professional 7000MX contains approximately 16.53 pounds of natural amethyst crystals in its primary gemstone layer.

Natural tourmaline appears separately in Richway's TOCA™ layer, which occupies its own position inside the 17-layer construction.

HealthyLine takes another approach. The TAJ gemstone surface combines crushed amethyst with jade and tourmaline.

That gives HealthyLine three visible gemstone varieties.

But gemstone variety is not a performance specification.

Three kinds of stone are not automatically better than two, just as five therapies are not automatically better than a product specializing in fewer core technologies.

We prefer a construction in which the major materials have identifiable positions and functions within the product rather than treating variety itself as the benefit.

Purpose matters more than variety.

17 Defined Layers vs "Up to 21 Functional Layers"

HealthyLine advertises TAJ as containing up to 21 functional layers. Richway documents a defined 17-layer Biomat construction.

If raw layer count determined quality, HealthyLine would win 21 to 17 and there would be nothing left to discuss.

Engineering does not work that way.

What matters is why those layers exist and how they work together.

Richway's current construction identifies the amethyst layer, thermal insulation, the natural-tourmaline TOCA layer, nano-copper fabric, heat-preservation materials, carbon-fiber and copper-fabric electromagnetic-interception layers, fiberglass, the silicon-and-Teflon heating layer, an aluminum infrared-reflection layer, additional thermal-management materials and the upper and lower structural layers.

Those functions explain why we call the Biomat a focused system.

The heating layer is part of the same architecture as the thermal-management materials. The gemstone field sits above that system. Tourmaline has a separate position. Dedicated materials address electromagnetic fields. The reflective layer has its own role within the stack.

HealthyLine's TAJ has a broader mission. Its construction also has to accommodate a Heated Wiring System, a PEMF system and a photon-light layer because the product is designed as a multi-therapy platform.

That helps explain the additional complexity.

More layers do not prove better infrared engineering when some of those layers exist because the product is performing additional, separate therapies.

For someone buying primarily a gemstone infrared mat, we prefer Richway's more concentrated architecture.

Made in China vs South Korea: The Real Difference Is the Quality System Behind the Product

Manufacturing deserves a more serious comparison than simply arguing about flags.

HealthyLine is headquartered in New York and says its products are designed and engineered in the United States. HealthyLine also states clearly that its mats are manufactured in China under its direct supervision, following its quality controls and FDA requirements.

China does have formal medical-device manufacturing regulations. Chinese medical-device manufacturers are subject to GMP and quality-management requirements covering suppliers, raw-material records, traceability, design-to-manufacturing transfer and manufacturing controls. So simply saying "made in China" does not prove that a medical device is poorly made.

But that does not mean every factory provides the same level of documented quality assurance, and this is where we believe Richway has a stronger case.

HealthyLine's current public material describes its inspections and quality-control process, but in the current HealthyLine TAJ documentation we reviewed, we did not find the specific TAJ manufacturing facility identified or a current factory-level ISO 13485 certificate published for that facility.

Richway provides more specific medical-device manufacturing credentials with the Biomat. Current Richway Biomat documentation identifies GMP and MDSAP ISO 13485 among its certifications, along with Korean medical-device credentials and other international certifications.

That matters because ISO 13485 is specifically a medical-device quality-management standard. South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety states that Korea's medical-device quality-management system was introduced in 2004 and harmonized with ISO 13485.

The issue is not that China has no manufacturing standards. It does. The meaningful difference is that Richway gives the buyer stronger, more specific public evidence of the medical-device quality system behind the Biomat.

HealthyLine asks the buyer to rely largely on its statement that Chinese manufacturing is supervised to American standards. Richway can point to named medical-device quality credentials attached to the Biomat platform.

For a premium electrical product that someone may use for years, we consider the documented quality system behind the manufacturing an important Richway advantage.

Far Infrared Therapy: Judge the Product by the Therapy You Came to Buy

Someone searching for the best infrared mat, best amethyst infrared mat, far infrared mat, infrared therapy mat or infrared heating pad is generally shopping for infrared heat—not the greatest number of unrelated functions inside one controller.

HealthyLine positions far infrared as one technology inside TAJ's multi-therapy platform.

Richway built the Biomat platform around its heated gemstone system.

For an infrared buyer, we believe Richway has the stronger product philosophy because infrared is not an add-on to the Biomat. It is the reason the product exists.

Negative Ion Therapy: Architecture Matters More Than a Marketing Number

Negative ion therapy and published negative ion output have been used to market infrared mats for years.

Richway incorporates natural tourmaline into the separate TOCA layer within its 17-layer construction. HealthyLine also markets negative ions and uses tourmaline within the TAJ gemstone mixture.

Older comparisons often turn this into a contest over which company can publish the largest ion number.

We do not think that is a responsible comparison unless the exact products were tested under the same conditions, at the same distance and using comparable equipment. Different measurement methods can produce very different numbers.

The stronger Richway argument does not require an unverifiable numerical race.

Tourmaline has an identifiable position within the Biomat architecture instead of simply appearing as another gemstone and another line on a feature list.

That documented construction is more meaningful to us than selecting a winner based on ion numbers generated under unknown or different testing conditions.

EMF Protection: Look Beyond a "Low EMF" Claim

HealthyLine says the TAJ uses an advanced filtration system and additional EMF-blocking layers. That is a legitimate part of its current design.

Richway also addresses electromagnetic fields structurally.

The Biomat's documented 17-layer construction identifies separate carbon-fiber and copper-fabric electromagnetic-interception layers, while the heating layer itself is identified as incorporating EMF interception.

Richway's current Biomat documentation also publishes TÜV among the product's testing/certification credentials.

That gives buyers more to evaluate than a simple "low EMF" marketing phrase.

We deliberately do not claim that a powered electrical device produces literally zero measurable EMF under every possible measurement condition. Absolute claims depend on where and how a measurement is taken.

The stronger and more credible Richway argument is that EMF management is built into multiple parts of the Biomat's construction and Richway publishes testing/certification credentials behind the product.

There is another important difference with TAJ: TAJ intentionally generates a pulsed electromagnetic field because PEMF is one of its therapies.

Intentional PEMF is not the same thing as unwanted electrical EMF. But it again comes back to what you are buying.

If you want PEMF, choose a product because you specifically want PEMF.

If you want a focused infrared gemstone system, the standard Biomat does not require another electromagnetic therapy to be built into the same device.

FDA Status: Both Are Registered, but That Does Not Make Them Equal

This is one of the strongest differences between Richway and HealthyLine once the terminology is explained correctly.

HealthyLine is FDA registered. Richway is FDA registered too.

Stopping there makes the two companies sound equivalent.

They are not.

What Does "FDA Registered" Actually Mean?

FDA registration and device listing essentially put the establishment and applicable devices on FDA's regulatory records.

That is important, but registration by itself does not mean FDA conducted a premarket review of that specific device.

In plain English, registration answers:

"Is this establishment and device listed with FDA?"

A traditional 510(k) process answers a different question:

"Did FDA receive and review a premarket submission for this device and determine it substantially equivalent to an appropriate legally marketed predicate?"

HealthyLine's Current TAJ Is 510(k)-Exempt

FDA's current GUDID records identify HealthyLine TAJ products as powered heating pads marketed by iMedia NY, Inc.

The FDA-linked TAJ record states that the device is exempt from premarket submission and shows no released premarket-submission number.

That does not mean HealthyLine failed to do something it was required to do.

It means today's powered-heating-pad classification can qualify for an exemption from a new 510(k) submission.

Richway Has Something Additional: An Actual Bio-Mat 510(k) Review

Richway's Bio-Mat history goes further.

Richway submitted the Bio-Mat 2000 through FDA's traditional 510(k) premarket process. FDA received the submission in September 2007, reviewed it and issued a "Substantially Equivalent" decision on February 8, 2008 under 510(k) number K072534.

In plain English:

Richway did not merely register an establishment and list a heating pad. FDA actually received and reviewed a Bio-Mat-specific premarket submission.

The Bio-Mat submission included specified indications involving temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness, temporary relief of joint pain associated with arthritis, temporary relief of muscle spasms, minor sprains and strains and minor muscular back pain, relaxation of muscles, and temporary increase of local circulation where applied.

The current Professional 7000MX is separately represented in FDA's GUDID as a Richway & Fuji Bio Class II powered heating pad. Today's powered-heating-pad category is now generally 510(k)-exempt, so we do not claim FDA separately issued a new 510(k) for today's 7000MX.

We do not need to make that claim.

The legitimate Richway advantage is that the Bio-Mat platform has a documented device-specific FDA premarket-review history that current HealthyLine TAJ devices do not.

Why Should a Buyer Care?

The easiest way to understand the difference is this:

HealthyLine can accurately say its mats are FDA registered.

Richway can accurately say that too.

But Richway can additionally point to an actual Bio-Mat submission that went through FDA's traditional 510(k) process and received a Substantially Equivalent decision.

Those are not the same regulatory histories.

We do not need to misuse the phrase "FDA approved" to make the Richway record sound stronger.

The actual record is stronger.

Richway Was Developing the Biomat Before HealthyLine Existed

HealthyLine says it was founded in 2013.

The Bio-Mat platform predates that by many years. Richway's FDA 510(k) decision alone dates to 2008—five years before HealthyLine says the company was founded—and the Biomat product history reaches back further than that.

Being first does not automatically make a company better forever. A later competitor can improve an established product.

But then the useful question becomes:

What did the newer product actually improve?

HealthyLine expanded the category in breadth. It added more series, more gemstone combinations, PEMF and red-light hardware.

But the current TAJ still uses what HealthyLine itself calls a Heated Wiring System.

Richway continued developing a narrower core platform built around the Biomat's heating system, gemstone construction, thermal layers, EMF-management materials and long-term ownership system.

Adding more features is one form of product development. Refining the core technology is another. For an infrared-mat buyer, we value the second one more.

What About Research on the Biomat?

There is extensive research on heat, infrared radiation, PEMF and red light generally.

That does not mean every product containing one of those technologies automatically produces the results of every study involving that modality.

The Bio-Mat has appeared by name in some product-specific reports and small studies. That evidence is limited and should not be stretched into proof of every health or wellness claim ever associated with the product.

The useful distinction is narrower:

product-specific evidence is more relevant to evaluating a particular product than citing generic research about infrared therapy and assuming every infrared mat performs identically.

We consider the Bio-Mat's longer history of product-specific documentation another part of its record—not proof of broad clinical superiority.

More HealthyLine Models Does Not Mean a Better Infrared Mat

HealthyLine offers considerably more series, gemstone combinations, sizes and therapy configurations than Richway.

If maximum choice is your priority, HealthyLine wins that comparison.

Catalog size does not tell you which company built the better infrared mat.

In fact, HealthyLine's own catalog illustrates the point: different series emphasize different capabilities because one mat cannot automatically represent the strongest possible version of every therapy.

Richway takes a narrower approach. Biomat sizes change the amount of body coverage while preserving the same core product philosophy.

Richway is not trying to make the Biomat into dozens of fundamentally different therapy systems.

For us, that consistency reinforces the specialization argument.

Controller Design: More Functions vs Supporting the Core Product

The TAJ controller has to operate several independent technologies because TAJ contains several technologies to control, including heat, PEMF and photon-light functions.

The Biomat controller supports a narrower product centered on the Biomat's heating system.

That does not mean fewer buttons automatically make Richway better, just as more buttons do not make HealthyLine better.

The relevant difference is what the controller is controlling.

HealthyLine's controller reflects a multi-therapy platform. Richway's controller reflects a specialized infrared platform.

As with the rest of the comparison, we care more about how well the product performs the job we came to buy than how many different functions can be selected from one interface.

Price: HealthyLine Is Cheaper. Richway Is the Product We Believe Is Worth More.

As of this October 2026 update, HealthyLine lists the TAJ Pro Plus 74" x 28" at $1,499, while the regular price of the Richway Biomat Professional 7000MX is $2,150. Richway prices and promotions can change, so always check the live product page before ordering.

There is no reason to pretend Richway is cheaper.

It isn't.

But price and value are different questions.

With Richway, the additional cost buys the heating architecture we prefer, approximately 16.53 pounds of disclosed amethyst, the separate natural-tourmaline TOCA layer, the defined 17-layer construction, named medical-device manufacturing credentials, multi-level EMF-management materials, the Bio-Mat's device-specific FDA history and Richway's long-term Lifetime Care infrastructure.

HealthyLine competes aggressively on breadth and upfront price. Richway's value proposition is depth, specialization, documented quality systems and long-term ownership.

For someone primarily purchasing an infrared gemstone mat, we believe those differences justify paying more.

90 Days vs 30 Days: HealthyLine Has the Longer Trial

HealthyLine currently offers a 90-day trial on qualifying direct purchases, while Richway's current Biomat trial gives eligible customers 30 days from delivery.

HealthyLine clearly gives you more calendar time.

The full return policies matter too.

HealthyLine requires return authorization, makes the customer responsible for return shipping and inspects the returned product. Its current policy permits condition-based deductions of 10%, 20% or 30% when cosmetic wear moves the return below its Grade A condition.

Richway's period is shorter, but an eligible return inquiry made within the 30-day period currently qualifies for a 100% refund of the purchase price when the return requirements are followed. There is no declining refund percentage during those thirty days. The customer remains responsible for return shipping and must follow the RMA and packaging requirements.

We would gladly take a longer trial if the underlying products were otherwise equal.

We would not choose the infrared system we consider less well engineered simply because it gives us another sixty days to return it.

Warranty: Five Years vs Lifetime Care Is Not an Even Comparison

HealthyLine's five-year limited warranty initially looks like the stronger offer.

During the early ownership period, it is genuinely good conventional coverage.

Under HealthyLine's current policy, qualifying defects receive free replacement during years one and two for continental U.S. customers. During year three, the customer pays shipping both ways plus a 10% deductible based on retail price. During years four and five, the deductible becomes 20% plus shipping.

HealthyLine's current policy also states that the warranty is void after two replacements within the five-year period.

Then the conventional five-year defect warranty ends.

HealthyLine separately offers lifetime trade-in and upgrade programs. Those programs may provide purchase credit toward another HealthyLine product, but they are not the same thing as an ongoing reduced-cost replacement program for a mat that has stopped working.

Richway's system works differently.

Qualifying first-year defects are handled without a service charge. Beginning in month 13, an eligible Biomat enters the Lifetime Care Program.

During months 13-24, the current replacement charge is 10% of the replacement product's current retail price plus applicable shipping and handling. During months 25-36, it is 20%. After three years, the current Lifetime Care tier is 30% of current retail plus applicable shipping and handling.

The important phrase is:

after three years.

The current Richway policy does not publish a year-five endpoint for that final tier.

What Happens If the Mat Fails in Year Six?

HealthyLine's conventional five-year defect warranty has ended.

An eligible Richway owner remains within the Lifetime Care replacement structure at the published after-three-year tier under the current program.

There is another practical advantage after the first year: Richway's current Lifetime Care policy says the defective Biomat does not have to be returned.

For a full-size gemstone mat, avoiding the cost and trouble of shipping the failed mat back is meaningful.

HealthyLine gives strong conventional protection during a defined five-year warranty period. Richway gives eligible owners an ongoing reduced-cost replacement pathway that remains relevant after an ordinary five-year warranty has already ended.

For a premium product someone may hope to own for many years, we consider that one of Richway's strongest advantages.

Authorized Distributor Support Is Part of the Richway Ownership Model

HealthyLine sells and supports its products directly and through other sales channels. Richway uses an authorized distributor network alongside Richway & Fuji Bio.

A knowledgeable authorized distributor is not simply an unnecessary middleman.
